Bahco Wrenches
Bahco Wrenches are the most common hand tool found in any toolkit or toolbox. Through their mechanical advantage, they help the user to apply torque to rotary fasteners - such as nuts and bolts - to either tighten or loosen them. They are available in many shapes and sizes, with various handle lengths and jaw capacities available in order to best suit different applications and requirements.
From engineers to DIY enthusiasts, we have the solution for you. Here at RS we stock the most popular Bahco products from adjustable spanners to a wide range of Wrenches.
What type of wrench do I need?
There are many types of wrench available, but the ideal type of wrench you need is dependent on what you will need to use it for in your project. At RS, we have a wide variety of wrenches available, including socket wrenches, torque wrenches, cross wrenches and breaker bars, but we have three main types in our range of standard wrenches:
- Adjustable spanner: Also known as an adjustable wrench, this tool has an adjustable jaw, allowing it to fit various sizes of nuts, bolts, and pipes. It's versatile and commonly used in plumbing, automotive repair, and general construction tasks.
- Chain wrench: This tool uses a chain looped around an object to grip and turn it. It's useful for gripping irregularly shaped objects such as pipes, rods, or cylindrical items that might be difficult to grip with other wrench types.
- Open-ended wrench: Also called a spanner wrench, this tool has U-shaped openings at both ends, each with a different size. It's used to tighten or loosen nuts and bolts in situations where access is limited, as the design allows it to fit into tight spaces.
- Pipe wrench: Designed specifically for working with pipes, this wrench has serrated jaws that grip onto rounded surfaces securely. It's commonly used in plumbing to tighten or loosen threaded pipes and fittings without damaging them.
- Ratchet combination spanner: This tool combines the features of a ratchet and a combination wrench. It has a ratcheting mechanism that allows for continuous turning of a fastener without having to remove and reposition the wrench, making it efficient for tasks requiring multiple turns in tight spaces.
- Strap wrench: This wrench uses a flexible strap or chain to grip objects without damaging them. It's particularly useful for turning smooth-surfaced objects such as pipes, filters, or cylindrical items where a firm grip is needed without marring the surface. Strap wrenches come in various sizes and configurations for different applications.
Typical applications
Wrenches can be used across a wide range of applications thanks to their versatility, ease to use and nature as an essential hand tool. Wrenches are commonly used by Plumbers, Engineers, Builders, Construction Workers and Automotive/Maintenance technicians.
