Spark plug sockets are connected to a ratchet or socket wrench and used to install or remove spark plugs in an internal combustion engine. Spark plug sockets have either a magnetic interior or rubber insert to grip the spark plug as well as to prevent damage to the delicate ceramic insulator. 16 mm spark plug sockets or 5/8 in spark plug sockets are the most common sizes.
